After messing about with splodges of colour on thick watercolour paper I decided to try a five minute painting of an apple - it's not too bad but I can see I need a lot of practice!
I had a long gap after completing a foundation year at art school when I was young, not really painting for a long time then as my children were at school I started again and a couple of tutors said I should finish my degree (after early disastrous work where I'd forgotten everything I ever knew I think though it came back fairly fast)
... and I ended up going back to uni as a mature student and finishing my degree :)
